Distributor House of Film is making its debut at AFM under the leadership of noted independent film exec Ava B, who has played a key role in the development and growth of many successful entertainment companies.

According to Ava B, House of Film brings ‘fusion’ distribution to independent films by combining the latest in digital technologies and the best of the traditional distribution methods to meet the challenges of the rapidly changing marketplace and to optimize revenues for film makers.

House of Film opened its doors with an impressive line-up including an Oscar contender, Sunrise/Sunset, a high concept documentary by the legendary Russian film maker Vitali Manski. It offers never-before-seen footage of the Dalai Lama in his home and is under consideration for an Academy Award nomination

Other films on the House of Film Roster include: Belladonna, a feature combining two highly successful themes: time travel and a wedding: For the Next 7 Generations, a documentary collection of 900 years of wisdom and prophecy by the 13 most powerful women elders of the planet: Tattoos, a gripping documentary with a host of celebrities including David Carradine, Julie Benz, Jason Mewes, Brad Dourif, Shawnee Smith, Billy Boyd and Scissor Sisters’ Ana Matronic; The Rain, a visual poem from Sweden that won a rave review from the New York Times and Milarepa: Magician, Murderer, Saint, one of the most important stories of our human heritage in a feature film about a real life eleventh century Buddhist mystic and spiritual warrior.

Launching her own company was the natural progression in Ava B’s impressive career with notable successes as VP of Acquisitions and Sales at LongTale, a founder and executive VP of Kanal 2, a private terrestrial TV channel in Estonia, senior executive and advisory roles at VIASAT3, RTL, York Entertainment, and Cinequest distribution.

Veteran entertainment exec Gary Jones has recently joined House of Film as general manager. His past positions include president of Porchlight Entertainment and president of Roger Corman’s Concorde-New Horizons Home Entertainment.

House of Film’s AFM suite is Loew’s 527. Reach Ava B at (818) 481-1289 or c/o
